Wooltrade sells more than 1000 bales online as market lifts

Wooltrade logoWOOLTRADE sold more than 1000 bales of wool last week as the AWEX Eastern Market Indicator gained 17c/kg clean to close on 1251 cents.

Wooltrade market operations officer Harriet Forster said the market has not been this high since the start of September this year and the EMI is 200 cents higher than at this time last year.

Wooltrade.com.au sold 1006 bales online last week, with the top price of 1526c/kg clean, or 1167c/kg greasy, going to a four-bale 15.8 micron line offered by Elders in Sydney and branded Bia-Brab. The line yielded 75.5 percent, had a mean staple length of 76mm, a tensile strength of 33 Newtons/kilotex and 0.4pc vegetable matter content.

In other sales, a two-bale line of 17.4 micron fleece wool sold for 1476c/kg clean or 930c/kg greasy. The line had a yield of 63pc, average staple length of 76mm, tensile strength of 52N/kt and 0.6pc vm.

A seven-bale 18.2 micron line that sold for 1481c/kg clean, or 880c/kg greasy, had a yield of 59.4pc, an average staple length of 90mm, tensile strength of 29N/kt and 1.4pc vm.

An eight-bale 19.7 micron fleece line that yielded 72.7pc, with a mean staple length of 68mm and a tensile strength of 54N/kt sold for 1410c/kg clean, or 1025c/kg greasy. The lot had 1.7pc vm.

A three-bale 20.3 micron line sold for 1353c/kg clean, or 890c/kg greasy, with a yield of 65.8pc, average staple length fo 87mm, tensile strength of 48N/kt and 2.9pc vm.

A 15-bale line of 21 micron wool made 1331c/kg clean, or 900c/kg greasy. The line yield 67.6pc, with an average staple length of 88mm, tensile strength of 39N/kt and 3.1pc vm.

A five-bale fleece line testing 22.2 micron sold for 1334c/kg clean, or 791c/kg greasy. The line yielded 59.3pc, with an average staple length of 102mm, tensile strength of 52N/kt and 0.2pc vm.

A 10-bale 23 micron fleece line that made 1302c/kg, or 850c/kg greasy, yielded 65.3pc, with a mean staple length of 110mm, tensile strength of 31N/kt and 1.1pc vm.

Fine Merino weaner pieces also drew buyer interest on Wooltrade, with a 12-bale line of long 14.8 micron skirtings making 1513c/kg clean, or 1047c/kg greasy. The line yielded 69.2pc, with an average staple length of 81mm, tensile strength of 31N/kt and 2.2pc vm. This lot was offered by Landmark and was branded TA/F In Dia/Congi Ne. Cardings sold to 1148c/kg dry.
