Rainfall over the past week was recorded in southwest Western Australia, the Top End of the Northern Territory, northern and southeast Queensland and eastern New South Wales. Light rainfall was recorded along the southern coasts of South Australia, central Victoria and western Tasmania.

At the beginning of the week, an extensive cloudband over much of Western Australia along with a broad surface trough near the southwest produced mainly light falls across most of the South West Land Division and Gascoyne, with isolated moderate falls near the coast. A surface trough extended from Queensland’s Gulf Country to central New South Wales, with thunderstorms forming along the southern flank of the trough. Moderate rainfall totals were recorded in central Queensland.

In the middle of the week, a moist onshore flow brought persistent showers, with moderate rainfall totals recorded in the north tropical east coast of Queensland. Shower activity was enhanced by an upper-level trough over central and eastern Queensland, with the exposed coastal areas generating localised, heavier totals.

At the end of the week, an upper-level trough and associated surface trough moved through the southwest of Western Australia, bringing light to moderate rainfall to the South West Land Division. A broad low pressure trough over inland New South Wales generated light to moderate falls across central and eastern districts. In the Northern Territory, isolated showers and thunderstorms brought moderate rainfall totals to the coastal areas and adjacent inland parts of the Top End.

Rainfall totals between 50 mm and 100 mm were recorded in the north tropical and central coasts of Queensland, the central coast of New South Wales and a small area around the Darwin-Daly region. The highest weekly rainfall total was 244 mm at Tully Sugar Mill in northern Queensland.

Rainfall totals between 10 mm and 50 mm were recorded in southwest Western Australia, the Top End, northern and southeast Queensland, eastern and central New South Wales and parts of the south coast of South Australia and central Victoria. Lighter rain fell in western Tasmania.

Remaining parts of Western Australia, most of the Northern Territory and South Australia, western and southern Queensland, western New South Wales, Victoria and the eastern half of Tasmania.
