Most of eastern and northern Australia received rain in the past week.

Past seven days: At the beginning of the week, a broad area of low pressure extended from Western Australia, and through central and eastern parts of Australia. Showers and thunderstorms produced moderate falls in parts of southern Queensland, and across northern and eastern New South Wales.

An upper-level trough produced a middle level cloudband with embedded thunderstorms and shower activity in parts of western and northern Queensland, and in central and northern parts of the Northern Territory.

A weak cold front crossed the southwest coast and produced mostly light falls.

During the middle of the week, a low pressure system deepened over South Australia, and produced thunderstorms and showers with moderate falls recorded in central and eastern New South Wales, northwestern Victoria and parts of southeastern South Australia.

The complex low deepened as it tracked across the southeast, and generated a gusty southwesterly flow over Victoria and Tasmania. Moderate to heavy falls were reported in Tasmania and much of southern and eastern Victoria before the system moved offshore.

In the north, a broad surface and upper-level trough extended from the Northern Territory through central Queensland to northeastern New South Wales. Showers and thunderstorms formed along and near the surface trough. Moderate falls were recorded across northern Australia in the Kimberley in Western Australia, the Top End and eastern parts of the Northern Territory and the Gulf Country. Moderate falls were also recorded in parts of eastern Queensland and northeastern New South Wales.

50mm-100mm: Pockets of the Top End in the Northern Territory, the Gulf Country, the northern interior and southeast coast of Queensland, and eastern New South Wales. Similar totals were recorded across most of northern and eastern Tasmania, with isolated higher totals recorded at some northeastern locations, including the highest weekly total of 264 mm at Gray.

10mm-50mm: Much of New South Wales except the far west; southeastern and far northeastern South Australia; and nearly all of Victoria and Tasmania. Similar totals were also recorded.in southwest Western Australia; across the northeast of the Kimberley and most of the Northern Territory, except the southwest, and across most of Queensland except in a band between Rockhampton and the western border which was mostly dry for the week.

Little to no rainfall: Most of Western Australia, southeastern parts of the Northern Territory, western and central parts of South Australia, and much of northwestern New South Wales recorded little or no rainfall this week.
