A STRONG cold front crossed southern South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania and southern New South Wales with widespread light to moderate rainfall, and snow in some alpine areas.

Ex-severe tropical Cyclone Olga brought rainfall to the western Pilbara (Western Australia) and its remnants combined with an upper level low, resulting in showers and isolated thunderstorms in parts of inland Western Australia.

A tropical low (12U) located north of the Northern Territory brought moderate rainfall to the northern Top End.

Rainfall totals greater than 50 mm were recorded in parts of the Top End in the Northern Territory and the Cape York Peninsula in Queensland, with some areas receiving more than 100 mm for the week.

Areas in the west of Western Australia, eastern Victoria, western Tasmania and pockets along the east Australian coast recorded between 10 and 50 mm.

The highest weekly total (at a bureau gauge) was 230.4 mm at Cape Wessel (Northern Territory). The highest daily rainfall total of 168 mm was recorded at Highbury Station (Queensland) in the 24 hours to 9 am 9 April.
