Weekly rainfall update + rain outlook 8 February 2023

A SLOW-MOVING surface low trough brought heavy falls and thunderstorms across eastern New South Wales, and eastern and central Queensland.

Weekly totals greater than 100 mm were recorded in the tropical north of Australia, with weekly totals of more than 300 mm recorded in some pockets.

The highest weekly total at a Bureau of Meteorology gauge was 310 mm at Yabulu Qld Nickel (Queensland) while the highest daily total at Bureau gauge was 130 mm at Menavale Alert (Queensland) to 9am on Feb 5th.

Weekly rainfall totals between 25 mm and 50 mm were recorded across much of Australia, except for southern Western Australia, most of South Australia and western New South Wales.

Flood conditions are generally easing across the country; a Major flood warning remains for Darling River.
