Strong AuctionsPlus online wool bale sales continue

Sheep Central, October 23, 2020

AUCTIONSPLUS Wool bale sales continued strongly this week in concert with rising demand experienced on the physical auction market.

AuctionsPlus’ Zoe McFarlan said there was steady buyer enquiry on the online offer board, with 2216 bales selling over the past seven days, slightly less than in the previous week.

Chinese textiles mills are increasing their production on the back of boosted demand from domestic consumers, she said.

The top price paid online this week was 1829c/kg greasy, or 2468c/kg clean for a 14.9 micron Merino fleece wool line that had an average staple length of 77mm and 0.3 percent vegetable matter content. The lot was branded NSB and offered by Roberts Wool.

Other sale results included 15 micron fleece wool making 1795c/kg greasy, or 2406c/kg clean, and 16 micron fleece selling for 1454c/kg greasy or 2040c/kg clean. The 18 micron fleece sold to 1253c/kg greasy, or 1649c/kg clean, and 19 micron wool made to 1040c/kg greasy, or 1450c/kg clean.
