South Australian lamb forum to outline efficiency options

Sheep Central July 24, 2017

PRIME lamb producers will get insights into producing more lambs from lower inputs at a forum at Naracoorte tomorrow.

The Limestone Coast Lamb Forum at the Naracoorte Football Club will feature Australian and New Zealand speakers covering new lamb production options, managing ewes for higher lamb survival, comparison of ewe types and data collection.

Sheep breeder and researcher Colin Earl will outline radical new options for future lamb production involving the use of the Booroola gene at the forum, which will be held at the Naracoorte Football Club from 1-5pm.

Lincoln University lecturer Chris Logan will present on the interaction between ewe size and profitability, and Elmore ewe trial consultant Kieran Ransom will outline a comparison of different ewe genotypes from the trial.

PIRSA researcher Janelle Hocking Edwards will speak on managing ewes for higher lamb survival. JBS Australia supply chain manager Mark Inglis will give a presentation on data collection and feedback, and will be available for questions on current market signals.

Light refreshments will be available. RSVP by text or phone to Colin Earl on 0428 647 457.
