Sheep Producers of Australia starts search for a new CEO

SPA president Allan Piggott

SHEEP Producers Australia has started its search for a chief executive officer after implementing new governance structures and processes over the past six months.

SPA president Allan Piggott said the body was launched in November 2017, replacing the Sheepmeat Council of Australia, and following adoption of a new governance framework and transition to a company limited by guarantee.

Since former CEO Dr Kat Giles resigned in November last year, Mr Piggott said SPA has the invaluable assistance of Sue Dillon as General Manager – Policy and Projects on temporary assignment and appointed executive chair Chris Mirams to manage the organisation through its transition.

“We are now looking to appoint a CEO and have that person in place for 2018-19 to carry on the important policy and advocacy work of SPA.

“The CEO will report to the board and have full responsibility for management of the day-to-day operations of SPA’s business and staff through to the broader strategy of the industry through the Sheep Industry Strategic Plan,” Mr Piggott said.

“The successful candidate will have a strong capacity for strategic vision and leadership, expertise in stakeholder engagement, governance, finance and risk management as well as previous industry experience.”

Interested applicants are invited to contact Tracie Carnovale at Carnovale Recruitment on 0404 979 206 or [email protected] for a copy of the Position Description. Applications close Monday, June 4, 2018.
