Sheep meat candidate needed for MLA board selection committee

Sheep Central August 14, 2020

A SHEEP meat candidate is being sought for producer representative positions on Meat & Livestock Australia’s board selection committee at its annual general meeting on 19 November 2020.

Grass-fed cattle and a grain-fed cattle representatives are also being sought for the committee.

MLA said the role of the selection committee is to call for applications, review, interview and then report on the suitability of candidates for election to the MLA board.

The committee is currently made up of three representatives nominated by producer peak councils, two non-voting MLA directors and four producer members who have been directly elected by MLA members – one sheep meat, one grain-fed cattle and two grass-fed cattle representatives.

At this year’s AGM, MLA members have the opportunity to directly elect three producer representatives to the MLA board selection committee for a three-year term, from nominees from the three producer categories.

All producer nominees are put forward to the AGM for a vote by the producer members in each class.

MLA said members wishing to nominate a person, or wishing to nominate themselves for election by MLA producer members to the MLA Board Selection Committee at the 2020 MLA AGM, must give written notice to MLA by 17 September 2020.
