WESTERN New South Wales landholders throughout the Western region have the opportunity to increase their on-farm biosecurity and sheep disease knowledge at two workshops in May.

The workshops, which have been organised in partnership with Sheep Connect NSW, will be delivered in two locations, firstly in Balranald on May 2 and a week later in Brewarrina on May 9.

Several industry experts will cover topics including biosecurity on your property, seasonal sheep health issues, disease investigations – who to notify, how to collect information and ensuring your own safety, a precautionary approach to purchasing livestock and a National Livestock Identification System update.

The face-to-face workshops will include theory components as well as several hands-on demonstrations that will allow landholders to put into practice a number of things they have learnt.

Western Local Land Services Team Leader – Agriculture, Gemma Turnbull believed the workshops will be of great value to landholders.

“Whether landholders have many years of experience running an enterprise or are looking to develop their skills and knowledge, these workshops cover a number of important areas that all landholders will benefit being informed about.

“Not only will landholders have the opportunity to hear from experts across a number of different areas, but they will also be able to share their own ideas and experiences which can be just as valuable,” Ms Turnbull said.

“By and large landholders find our workshops highly valuable and enjoyable and we are expecting the same from these.”

The first workshop on Tuesday, May 2 will commence at 9.30 am at the Homebush Hotel, Balranald. The registration for this workshop is due Friday, April 28.

The second workshop on Tuesday, May 9 will commence at 10 am at the “Tarrion” woolshed, Brewarrina. The registration for this workshop is due Friday, May 5.
