Scanned in-lamb first cross ewe lambs sell to $307 on AuctionsPlus

ONLINE demand for scanned in-lamb Merino ewe hoggets and first cross ewe lambs increased on AuctionsPlus last week.

In-lamb first cross ewe lambs sold to $307 and scanned Merino hoggets made to $206 in online sales.

AuctionsPlus market operations supervisor Tom Rookyard said online sheep and lamb numbers rose 3300 last week, to 37,587 head.

Clearance was also on the rise, with 74 percent of lots sold across the week, he said.

Future breeder Merino ewe lambs averaged $143, up $35 on last week, ranging from $81 up to $175.50 for a line of Glendamar blood ewes at Nyngan in New South Wales.

Merino ewe hoggets sold from $130 to $206, at an average of $167, up $33 up on the previous week. The top-priced line at Beechworth in Victoria were scanned in-lamb to White Suffolk rams. There was strong bidding from buyers in Victoria and South Australia, but they eventually sold to a NSW buyer. Grown scanned in-lamb Merino ewes averaged $118, $15 down on last week, and ranged from $85 to a top of $140.50.

Merino wether lambs continued to draw buyer interest this week, with a line of bare shorn 42kg Sept/Oct 17’ drop, from Moree, NSW selling for $103. Wether lambs averaged $86, down $9 from last week. While the limited supply of Merino wether hoggets averaged $96.

Scanned first cross ewe lambs sell to $307

In the 5900 first cross ewes and ewe lambs offered last week, ewe lambs averaged $217.50 and sold from $130 to a top of $307 for a line of the April/June 2017-drop lambs scanned in-lamb to Suffolk rams at a dispersal sale at Penola in South Australia.

A line of 11-12 month-old Cadell Border Leicester blood ewes at Narromine in NSW sold for $228. A line of 13-14 month-old scanned in-lamb ewes at Glenorchy in Victoria sold for $240.

New season lambs sell to $93.50

The top price for new season lambs online last week was $93.50 for a line of 25kg March/April 2018-drop White Suffolk cross suckers at Lockhart in NSW. A line of 24kg White Suffolk cross March/April 2018-drop suckers at Euchareena, NSW, sold for $85.
