CLEARANCES fell but remained strong in several categories as AuctionsPlus commercial sheep and lamb listings lifted 26 percent to 77,281 head last week.
AuctionsPlus said the larger offering met mixed competition and the overall clearance fell to 79pc, while value over reserve lifted by $5 to average $13.
New season lambs made up 65pc of the listings and achieving an 87pc clearance rate. These lambs averaged $118/head, $9 above set reserves.
AuctionsPlus sold 89pc of the 23,521 crossbred lambs for an average price of $123, down $3.
The 5642 head composite/other breed lamb offering all sold for an average price of $125, down $5.
Similarly, the 810 shedding breed lambs also all sold, for an average price of $102, down $23
AuctionsPlus said there was strong demand for the 3596 unjoined first cross ewes offered, with 88pc selling from $120-$235 to average $177, down $46.
Scanned in-lamb ewes performed exceptionally well, with SIL Merino ewes and SIL shedding breed ewes all being sold, while only 38pc of the joined ewes found new owners.
Listings and purchasing were up across all states. New South Wales led the way, listing 35,195 head – an increase of 6518 – and purchasing 28,152 head.
Overall, the platform reflected a dynamic week with strong demand in specific categories despite varied price movements, AuctionsPlus said.
At Parkes in NSW, 440 2.3-2.4 year-old Merino ewes weighing 63kg sold for $192, or 307c/kg lwt, to a buyer at Moree, NSW.
At Cumnock in NSW, 340 mixed sex may 2024 Poll Dorset cross lambs weighing 43kg lwt sold for $164, or 381c/kg, to a buyer in Dubbo, NSW.
At Collingullie in NSW, 300 15-16 month-old first cross ewes weighing 55kg made $235 or 426c/kg lwt with a buyer in Naracoorte, South Australia.
