NSW Farmers seeks agriculture scholars

Sheep Central November 28, 2014

NSW Farmers is seeking applicants for five $4000 scholarships for students committed to agriculture and rural communities.

Students applying for the scholarships must be in their second or subsequent year of either university or vocational study to be eligible. Their partners or parents must also have held a full producer membership with NSW Farmers in the past two years.

Students are encouraged to apply for the NSW Farmers’ tertiary scholarships by February 13, 2015.

The chair of the association’s scholarship selection panel Sonia O’Keefe said: “The scholarships are available for a diverse range of career choices and support some of our passionate and dynamic students who can make a significant contribution to our agricultural industry.”

A 2014 scholarship recipient, Angus Martin from Mullaley said the application process and award presentation were excellent opportunities to meet a range of people, engage with rural issues and learn about the role of the association.

“Overall, it has been a very rewarding experience!”

Alexandra Dalton from Binya said the great thing about the NSW Farmers’ scholarship is it recognises students studying a variety of disciplines and their passion for agriculture.
