NEW season lambs made up 76 percent of a slightly smaller commercial sheep and lamb offering on AuctionsPlus last week.
The AuctionsPlus listings fell 4 percent to 32,015 head with a 1pc lift in the overall clearance rate to 74pc.
AuctionsPlus found homes for 84pc of the 20,591 crossbred lambs offered, and other lamb category clearances ranged from 13-100pc.
The crossbred lamb indicator rebounded 4pc or $5 to $118 and the AuctionsPlus Restocker Lamb indicator lifted a further 75c/kg to average 766c/kg dressed.
The value over reserve averaged $8/head over set reserves, lifting $1 from last week. Lots that sold during the auction averaged $11/head above reserve, but the figure dropped during post-auction transactions.
The new season lamb offering lifted again this week, with 24,325 head up from 20,387 last week. The new season lamb clearance rate lifted three percentage points to 77pc clearance rate, and the average price also lifted to $117/head, up $8.
Sheep and lamb listings and purchases decreased significantly in Queensland, but lifted in New South Wales.
The crossbred lamb offering increased 21pc to 20,591 head. The larger supply was met with a $5/head increase in average price to $118/head. At Oxley in NSW, 640 mixed sex April/May 2024 drop White Suffolk cross lambs weighing 35kg lwt sold for $140/head, or 397c/kg to a buyer in Wagga Wagga, NSW.
The average price for the first cross ewe lambs offered dropped $31 to $154 after lifting $48 the previous week. The clearance rate dropped also dropped 31pc last week. A Coonamble in NSW, 200 April-May 2024 drop first cross ewe lambs weighing 30kg lwt made $160/head, or 526c/kg with a buyer in Gumble, NSW.
Unjoined shedding breed ewes averaged $195/head, up $59, for the 277 head on offer.
