MEAT and Livestock Australia members have been reminded they have one week to submit their levies notice to secure full voting entitlements for the body’s annual general meeting on November 10.

The levies notice pack has been mailed to all MLA members and must be completed and lodged by October 1, 2015.

MLA managing director Richard Norton said producers should make every effort to submit their levies notice.

“Voting at MLA’s AGM is one very important way that producers can be directly involved in how their levies are being invested and we want our members to have greater input into the company’s direction than ever before,” he said.

At the AGM, members can vote on the appointment of MLA directors and any resolutions put forward by the company or its members. Cattle producer members will also have the opportunity to elect an additional grassfed cattle representative to the Board Director Selection Committee.

Members who don’t submit their Levies Notice will automatically receive one vote for any MLA ballots.

This process is voluntary but by returning this notice or lodging online, members inform MLA of the amount of levies paid in the last financial year and will have their voting entitlement calculated in accordance with MLA’s constitution, MLA said.

This year’s MLA AGM will be held on November 10 at the Mercure Hotel, Brisbane. MLA members who are unable to attend the AGM can still vote by proxy or attorney.
