Latest on rangeland goat feeding research at Queensland field day

Sheep Central, November 22, 2017

Rangeland or feral meat goats.

RANGELAND goat producers will get the latest data on growth rates under different feeding regimens at a Warwick field day next month.

The field day at ‘Deer Park’ at Warwick on December 2 will outline what growth rates can be expected from young rangeland goats with and without supplementation.

The interim results from the Meat & Livestock Australia-funded goat feeding research from Queensland and New South Wales trial sites will be discussed by the project team with producers at the field day.

As well as goat nutrition, the field day will address internal parasite control, biosecurity, how industry levies are being invested and what training opportunities are available.

The field day’s barbecue lunch will involve lupin-supplemented and grass-fed goat meat.

Free webinar on December 12

For producers who can’t get to the Warwick day, a free webinar will be held on December 12 at noon. Participants can join the project team and host producers for a short webinar to hear more about the trial results and how they can apply the results to their enterprises. The webinar is scheduled for Tuesday, December 12, 2017, 12pm Australia Eastern Time (Brisbane).

To register for the webinar click here or visit the events page on the MLA website www.mla.com.au Field day RSVPs and for more information: Shannon Plowright at (02) 6228 6200 or [email protected] by November 25 for catering purposes.
