Joined Australian White ewe lambs sell for $527 on AuctionsPlus

These joined April-May 2020 drop Tattykeel blood Aussie White ewe lambs sold for $527 on AuctionsPlus last week.

AUSTRALIAN White ewe lambs sold to $527, young first cross ewes made $427 and Merino ewes sold for up to $336 on AuctionsPlus last week.

The online sheep and lamb offering increased by 53,208 to 121,906 head, with more than half coming from New South Wales, where producers offering 69,905 head.

The stand-out line on AuctionsPlus last week was 50 April/May 2020 drop Australian White ewe lambs mated to AW rams that sold for $527 at Corack East In Victoria to a buyer at Benalla. Another line of 50 March/April 2020 drop AW ewe lambs, also joined to AW rams and weighing 55kgs at Wellington, NSW, sold for $457 and the vendor’s second line made $456, going to a buyer at Tamworth.

Merino ewe hoggets make $355

Merino ewe lambs sold from $160 to $225head, to average $202. The top price was paid for a line of Tupra blood April/May 2020 drop Merino ewe lambs weighing 44kgs and with 65mm fleece at Forbes, NSW. They sold to a local buyer.

Merino ewe hoggets sold from $195 to $355, to average $261. The top price was achieved by a line recently shorn scanned empty ewe hoggets weighing 54kgs at Manilla, NSW. They sold to a NSW buyer at Dubbo.

Scanned Merino ewes sell to $336

Young Merino ewes 2-4 years old sold from $190 to $336 and averaged $269. The top price was paid for 250 2.5 year-old mid-September shorn ewes scanned 100pc in-lamb to Border Leicester rams at Trangie, NSW, The ewes weighed 66kg and sold to NSW buyer at Coonamble.

Proven Merino breeders, four years and older, made $119 to $287 and averaged $217. The top price was paid for 280 five year-old early August shorn Collinsville blood Merino ewes weighing 79kg that were scanned 162pc in-lamb to Poll Dorset rams at Hay, NSW. They sold to a NSW buyer at Warren.

Woolly Merino wethers make $230

Merino wethers sold from $95 to $230, to average $140. The top price was achieved by a line of 3-4 year-old early July shorn Greendale Merino wethers weighing 74kgs at Mount Collins, NSW. They sold to a buyer at Narromine.

Scanned first cross ewes make $427

These 2.5 year-old scanned in-lamb first cross ewes sold $427 on AuctionsPlus last week.

First cross ewe lambs sold from $207 to $363 and averaged $287. The top price was paid for 160 mid-October shorn June/July 2020 drop ewe lambs weighing 59kg at Bridgewater in Victoria. They sold to a Victorian buyer at Warrnambool.

Young first cross ewes 2-4 years-old sold from $330 to $427, to average $367. The top price was paid for 146 30-32 month-old mid-September shorn ewes weighing 70kgs and scanned in-lamb 169pc to White Suffolk rams at Cootamundra, NSW. They sold to a Victorian buyer at Yarrawonga.

Tasmanian producers offered 2800 sheep and lambs online last week, down 1154 head. Some stand-out lines included Aug-Sept 2020 drop Kelso ewe lambs weighing 51kgs at Tomahawk making $250 and 720 five year-old late October shorn Merino wethers weighing 57kgs at Lemont selling for $157.

Store lambs make up 575c/kg liveweight

The online store lamb offering totalled 30,145 head last week.  Prices ranged from 353c/kg-575c/kg lwt, to average 447c/kg. Highlights included:

–  Poll Dorset cross, 30kg, $154.50 or 508c/kg, Aug/Sept 2020, drop Thallon QLD

–  Dorper/AW cross, 31kg, $174 or 570c/kg, Sept/Oct 2020, Condobolin, NSW

–  Southdown cross, 22.5kg, $116.50 or 518c/kg, Sept/Oct 2020, Euroa VIC

–  Hampshire Down cross, 26kg, $141 or 546c/kg, July/Aug 2020, Hexham VIC

–  Primeline Maternal, 24kg, $138 or 575c/kg, July/Aug 2020, Uranquinty NSW
