Goat producers can dial into free Stock Sense webinar

GOAT owners have the opportunity to access the latest goat health and welfare information from homes through an intereactive webinar next week.

The ‘Stock up: keeping and caring for goats’ webinar on Tuesday, November 13, will feature goat health veterinary officer Dr Berwyn Squire stepping through the 101 of goat ownership.

Breeders who don’t have reliable access to the internet teleconference can also be part of the discussion via phone.

Melliodora Miniature Goat Stud owner, Luke Simeoni, said taking part in this webinar demonstrated a step in the right direction.

“When producers show interest in education, it sends a clear message that as an industry we are serious about goat health and welfare.

“It’s vital as owners that we all take the responsibility to keep up to date with the latest best practices,” Mr Simeoni said.

“It’s also in our best interest financially, because healthy stock are the cheapest to keep.”

The free webinar will be held from 8pm to 9pm AEDT has been organised by the Victorian Farmers Federation’s Stock Sense division. The webinar platform is easy to use with no software downloads required and technical support will be offered throughout the session.

Stock Sense helps livestock owners adopt animal health and production practices that improve profitability, animal welfare and Victoria’s biosecurity status.
