First cross ewes sell to $309, Merino ewes to $246.50 on AuctionsPlus

These 13-15 month-old Highlander ewe hoggets , 50.5kg and mostly score 3, sold for $251 on AuctionsPlus at Harrow, Victoria, last week.

FIRST cross ewe made $309, young Merino ewes sold to $246.50 and first cross ewe lambs peaked at $230 on AuctionsPlus last week.

The number of sheep and lamb numbers listed by the online selling platform last week dipped by 16,441 head to 80,765 head.

However, more than 41,000 lambs were listed in the weekly lamb auction.

Merino ewe lambs averaged $112 and sold to a top of $126. Young Merino ewes averaged $183 and sold to a top of $246.50. The top price went to a line of Carrie Cowie Poll Merino blood ewes, from Minlaton, South Australia. These unjoined ewes were 18-19 months-old and weigh 63kg off-shears.

Proven Merino breeders averaged $150 and sold to a top of $204. The top price was paid for a line of Centre Plus blood ewes, from Narrandera, NSW. The unjoined four year-old ewes weighed 68kg liveweight and had a 7cm fleece.

Mixed aged Merino ewes averaged $133 and sold to a top of $166. Older Merino ewes averaged $140 and sold to a top of $163. The top price went to a line of Austral Eden blood ewes from West Wyalong, NSW. The 606.6 year-old unjoined ewes weighed 78kg and had a 6.5 cm fleece.

Merino wether lambs to $128.50

Merino wether lambs averaged $103 and sold to a top of $128.50 for a line of Woodpark blood wethers from Jerilderie, NSW. The wethers were June/ July 2017 drop, weighed 37.5kg and had a 4cm fleece.

Merino wether hoggets averaged $113 and sold to a top for $131. The top price was paid for a line of Burragundy blood wethers from Coolah, NSW. The 17-18 month-old wethers weighed 44kg and were carrying a 6.5cm fleece.

Grown Merino wethers averaged $88 and sold to a top of $104 for a line of Greendale and Arable blood wethers from Cooma, NSW. These 3-4 year-old wethers weighed 56kg with a 4cm fleece.

First cross ewes to $309, ewe lambs to $230

First cross ewe lambs averaged $184 and sold to a top of $230. The top price was paid for a line of 7-8 month-old lambs weighing 49kg lwt from Trangie, NSW. Young first cross ewes averaged $246 and sold to a top of $309. This top price went to a line of 14-15 month old 60kg ewes from Edenhope, Victoria.

Store lambs sell to $153.50

Store lamb highlights include first cross mixed sex suckers, June/August 2017 drop, weighing 39kg from Wee Waa, New South Wales, that sold for $153.50. At Euroa in Victoria, first cross mixed sex suckers, July/August 2017 drop and weighing 36kg lwt, made $128. First cross mixed sex suckers, July/ August drop and weighing at Moree, NSW, sold for $116.

18-22kg made $61-$97 to average $79 or 390c/kg live

23-26kg made $83.50-$116 to average $99 or 392c/kg

27-30kg made $86.50-$109 to average $98 or 343c/kg

31-34kg made $98-$116 to average $109 or 328c/kg

35-37kg made $112.50-$128 to average $117 or 319c/kg

38-44kg made $109.50-$153.50 to average $122 or 302c/kg
