ELDERS Naracoorte stock agent Josh Reeves has taken out the 2019 ALPA South Australian Young Auctioneers Competition after a successful auctioneer school run by the Australian Livestock and Property Agents Association.
Elders Bordertown agent Wade Broadstock was runner-up in the competition held at Naracoorte this wee.
Josh and Wade will represent South Australia in the 2020 ALPA National Young Auctioneers Competition at the Sydney Royal Easter Show. They will compete against other state finalists for the 2020 ALPA National Young Auctioneer title and the chance to represent Australia in the International Livestock Auctioneers Competition at the Calgary Stampede, Canada.
ALPA said 11 auctioneers from South Australia travelled to Naracoorte to attend the annual one-day auctioneer school. The ALPA auctioneer schools provide an opportunity for auctioneers to improve their auctioneering skills and receive important industry information. Trainers and speech pathologists ensure the attendees receive feedback that is encouraging and beneficial, ALPA said.
Five auctioneers competed in the 2019 ALPA South Australian Young Auctioneers Competition, held in conjunction with the Naracoorte cattle sale. A panel of three judges were selected based on their strong selling backgrounds and experience within the industry. The judges were asked to assess the diction, values, manner and overall presence of the young auctioneers.
Chairman of the ALPA Southern Regional Advisory Committee Warren Clark said the competition was of a high standard and he complimented the young agents who competed.
Well done to Josh and Wade. Great young agents and graduates of the Elders Trainee Program.
