WESTERN New South Wales landholders are being offered a great opportunity to upskill through a one-day 1080 Pindone and canid pest ejector training workshop in Bourke next month.

The Western Local Land Services-run workshop on Tuesday, February 13, will offer landholders theoretical and practical training components that will assist in their overall understanding and ability to manage pest animals.

The workshop is suitable for landholders with no previous training and those looking for re-accreditation while the CPE component is optional.

Western Local Land Services senior biosecurity officer, Robynne Wells-Budd believes it is important landholders have the most up-to-date training and information when it comes to pest animal management.

“This workshop will cover a number of important topics when it comes to legislation and what landholders’ responsibilities are when it comes to baiting pest animals.

“In addition to the theory component, there will also be a demonstration on setting a CPE and what landholders need to do to give themselves the best chance of getting a wild dog to trigger the CPE,” Ms Wells-Budd said.

“At the conclusion of the workshop, we have allowed time for questions which will also give landholders the chance to update us on what they are experiencing on their properties.

“In addition to pest animals, landholders can also ask any questions about biosecurity plans for their properties which is a follow-up to the biosecurity workshop series we ran last year.”

A cost of $44 applies for the 1080 Pindone training while a cost of $22 applies for the CPE training. The workshop will commence at 10am and be held at 21 Mitchell St, Bourke.
