AWI launches new mobile phone app for wool growers

Sheep Central, May 3, 2021

AUSTRALIAN Wool Innovation has launched a new mobile phone app for growers and anyone interested in the industry.

The AWI Grower App allows users to customize and prioritize the information they receive from AWI.

Popular updates including regular market reports, production forecasts, industry news, podcasts plus research will be delivered quickly and easily at the forefront of the app, AWI said.

AWI chief executive Stuart McCullough said the app is an opportunity to better connect with growers and make their digital experience better. He said almost half of all visits to AWI’s wool.com website were made on a mobile phone.

“This is another way AWI is making it easier for growers to get the most useful and up to date information from us.

“Growers can choose what information to receive and what to view offline,” he said.

“The app also has push notifications and geo-based content capabilities currently being developed so no matter where you are you get the most relevant local information about upcoming events or conditions.

“Our sole purpose is to deliver better outcomes for Australian woolgrowers and the app will be right there on your phone home page and wherever you are you can look up information right away, rather than having to go to a computer or search through bookmarks,” Mr McCullough said.

An AWI spokesman said signing up to the app is voluntary and growers have the control to choose what they receive.

“Growers only receive information on topics they want.

“For example weekly market reports or shearing,” he said.

“If they don’t want information on a subject they won’t receive it.

“Push notifications are optional.”

The AWI Grower App is available now for all iPhones and android phones.
