AUCTIONSPLUS sold 1893 bales of wool on its online offer board in September, an increase of 121 percent on October sales.
AuctionsPlus said its offer board followed similar trends to the physical market, with key test data from the AWTA’s September release reporting an increase of 23.8pc in lots tested and 20.4pc more bales tested than in the same period last year.
AuctionsPlus said unsurprisingly, finer wools sold in the largest quantities, with 391 bales of 18 micron wool selling to a top of 1570c/kg greasy, or 2107c/kg clean. The top-priced lot was a 10 bale-line of AAAM Merino fleece wool offered by Nutrien Ag Solutions Victoria, under the ‘Tullochgorum’ brand.
The top-priced lot overall for the month was an 8-bale line of 15.5 micron Merino fleece wool with an average staple length of 90mm and 0.3 percent vegetable matter that made 2700c/kg greasy, or 3548c/kg clean. It was offered by AWN under the ‘Paling Yards’ brand.
AuctionsPlus said with the spring stud selling season in full force, several Merino auctions have achieved very high prices, including the Wallaloo Park Merino & Poll Merino sale and the Mumblebone Merino sale, that both averaged well over $4,000/head, indicating robust demand for wool sheep.
