AuctionsPlus prepares for Australia’s largest online store lamb sale

Sheep Central, October 16, 2014

AuctionsPlus logoLocal lamb producers and agents have the opportunity to take part in Australia’s largest online store lamb sale next month managed by AuctionsPlus, with access to more than 48,000 registered buyers from across Australia.

Online auction provider AuctionsPlus will host the Inaugural Farm Gate Store Lamb Sale, and in an industry first, will allow all agents to market their client’s store lambs in commercial lines in one online sale, increasing exposure to a much broader market.

Newly appointed AuctionsPlus Chief Executive Officer Anna Speer said the initiative is aimed at generating high volumes and creating a competitive market for vendors and buyers encompassing all lamb producing areas of Australia.

“This sale is an opportunity to work inclusively with industry and to generate activity around a specific target market of store lambs,” Ms Speer said.

“For lamb producers, this is a good opportunity to offer quality store lambs allowing them to achieve their full potential without compromising carcase quality, selling to buyers who are aiming at a targeted end market,” she said.

“AuctionsPlus assessments have objective measurements of stock provided with photos and videos attached, creating a virtual presence for buyers using the system, providing confidence to buyers that they are buying the right stock for their end result.”

“Producers can have the confidence to sell at their realistic reserves as stock remains on-farm until sold, lowering costs and reducing stress to the animals.”

“In the future we see sales such as this under the AuctionsPlus banner providing producers, agents and buyers access to livestock of a similar specification in significant numbers.”

Registered AuctionsPlus buyer Will Jeffreys from Delegate Station Pastoral Company says: “AuctionsPlus is a great way to buy stock as you have a detailed description of the animals purchased including previous animal health and grazing conditions, plus you do not lose any animal performance as you are picking up direct off the farm, limiting time off feed for the stock.”

Producers wanting to sell or purchase in the Inaugural Farm Gate Store Lamb Sale should contact their local livestock agent, assessor or visit http://www.auctionsplus.com.au/Page/FarmGateLambSale to register.

The Inaugural Farm Gate Store Lamb Sale will take place at 12pm AEDT, Thursday, 6 November 2014, via www.auctionsplus.com.au.

The sale catalogue will be released on Monday, 3 November.
