Livestock Leading Hand & Livestock Hand – Goonoo Feedlot

  • Two positions available

Goonoo Station and Feedlot is situated in the Central Highlands of Queensland, 250km west of Rockhampton, 65km south east of Emerald, and 20km south of Comet.

There are currently opportunities available for a Livestock Leading Hand and a Livestock Hand to join our team.

Livestock Leading Hand responsibilities will include leading the feedlot crew, planning and coordinating the movements of cattle, and ensuring compliance with export requirements and the completion of required documentation.

The successful applicant will have previous feedlot experience, strong horsemanship skills, have confidence in their abilities and be looking to develop their career and move into a leadership role.

Livestock Hand responsibilities will involve carrying out cattle handling and movement procedures, treating cattle as required and maintaining records. The successful applicant will ideally have cattle handling and horse riding experience, with previous experience at a feedlot preferred.

Chief Executive Officer

The Chief Executive Officer of Certified Australian Angus Beef Pty Ltd is the leader of the company, accountable for its overall performance in achieving its business objectives through five key responsibility areas.

Reporting to the CAAB board, the CEO will achieves these objectives by leading and influencing stakeholders both within and outside the company.

The five key responsibility areas are:

  • Business leadership and management
  • Brand development and promotion
  • Market and supply chain development
  • Partnership Licencing and development
  • Staff leadership and management

The company owns two large, successful beef brands – Certified Australian Angus Beef (CAAB) a high quality grainfed product which has a strict quality control specification which underpins the integrity of this brand; and Angus Pure, a high quality pasture fed product grown under a strict ‘Natural’ specification.

There are currently two support staff assisting the CEO (a southern-based supply chain manager and a northern based supply chain coordinator) as well as external contract accounting, legal and secretarial service providers.

Market Operations and Data Manager

 

Landmark Global Exports one of Australia’s leading exporters of high quality beef and dairy cattle requires a highly competent operations and data manager to manage the data and preparation of  cattle for specific export markets.

Applicants must be motivated, diligent and able to operate in high pressure scenarios, good communication skills and high knowledge levels of data management are essential.

A very specific set of skills are required:

  • Strong communication skills (both up and down the employee chain)
  • Thorough knowledge of Excel
  • Proven record of processing, understanding and reporting on data
  • Robust organisational skills

Desired skill sets are:

  • NLIS uploading and transferring
  • SAP uploading
  • Livestock procurement processes
  • Livestock agistment procedures and record keeping.

The role involves all aspects of livestock handling while cattle are being prepared for export in quarantine.

Livestock Manager – Young Abattoir

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Livestock Manager to join our Procurement Team based at our Abattoir in Young.

As the Livestock Manager you will create and maintain effective business relationships with all suppliers by negotiating with producers, buyers, agents and service providers to ensure all company livestock requirements are met. Reporting through to the Group Supply Chain Manager, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Research and evaluate suppliers to ensure prices reflect current market cost
  • Forecast and maintain livestock production volumes to meet required demand
  • Analyse purchased livestock via yield and costing reporting
  • Complete required sale yard, producer and plant audits
  • Remain informed about current livestock and meat market information
  • Effectively manage the Livestock Team to achieve a high standard of service and support to customers.

Slaughtermen and Boners

HW Greenham’s Tongala plant in northern Victoria needs slaughtermen and boners. Tongala is located near Echuca, the closest Murray River town to Melbourne, offering a wide range of water-based recreational and sporting opportunities. The regional city of Shepparton is also close by. Both centres offer excellent retail, sporting, educational and health facilities. Meat processing experience would be great but isn’t essential. Suitable candidates without previous experience will receive comprehensive training that is nationally accredited, leading to a fully recognised meat processing trade qualification. HW Greenham offer excellent wages and conditions. Meat processing is strenuous work and requires physical fitness and strength. Applicants will have to undergo a medical examination, and drug and alcohol screening.
