Increased chance of above average winter rainfall for much of inland and parts of southern Australia
ABOVE average rainfall is likely — 60 to 80 percent chance — for much of inland Australia and some southern parts for June to August, according to the Bureau of Meteorology’s long range forecast .
Rainfall is expected to be within the typical range for June to August for western Western Australia, much of Victoria, parts of the east coast and across the far tropical north.
Below average rainfall is likely — 60 to 80pc chance — for western Tasmania.
June to August is part of the northern Australian dry season when most of tropical northern Australia typically has very low rainfall totals, with average rainfall less than 10 mm for the three months combined.
Warmer than average winter days and nights very likely across most of Australia
Above average maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to very likely — 60pc to greater than 80pc chance — across all of Australia.
There is an increased chance of unusually high maximum temperatures1 across Australia. Chances exceed 70pc for much of south-western and south-eastern Australia, and parts of the tropical north.
There is an increased chance of unusually high minimum temperatures1 across Australia. Chances exceed 70pc for far southern, eastern and northern parts of Australia.
