THE Peter Westblade Scholarship chairman Joe Walden announced a new 2025 PWS Finalist Program at the organisation recent annual ball in Wagga Wagga.

The innovative program will provide six exceptional finalists with an extended opportunity for growth through a five-month journey of industry immersion.

Participants will visit high-performing sheep enterprises and take part in a structured mentoring program designed to broaden their horizons and expand their public speaking and business skills.

This year’s PWS scholarships were awarded to Grace Kaveney and Scott Macpherson, who PWS represented the true values of the scholarship with their passion and enthusiasm. PWS said their selection reflected the scholarship’s ongoing commitment to fostering the next generation of industry leaders through hands-on experience, professional development, and networking opportunities.

Mr Walden said the quality of scholarship applicants this year was truly outstanding.

“We believe this new program will further honour the legacy of Peter Westblade by opening doors and assisting even more young people pursuing and extending their careers in the sheep industry.”

PWS said spots are still available for the upcoming 2025 PWS Training Weekend at Wyvern Station from 31st May to 1st June. This practical, hands-on event offers participants valuable skills, educational workshops, and the opportunity to build networks within the industry. It’s an ideal stepping stone for anyone looking to deepen their involvement and upskill in the sheep and wool sector.
