JBS Bordertown staff celebrate the new trading relationship with China.
JBS Australia’s Bordertown plant has completed its first ever chilled lamb order to China since being listed for chilled exports into the country earlier this year.

In a Facebook post, the company said the historic shipment was made possible after JBS Bordertown was recently listed for chilled exports into China, providing the JBS sales team the opportunity to explore new market opportunities.
The company said following a request for a range of product samples that were excellently prepared by the Bordertown team and flown out last weekend, the facility was selected based on the sales team’s confidence in their ability to deliver quality and consistency.
The partnership involves Beijing Ershang, a regular buyer and strong supporter of the JBS Bordertown EST.1614, JBS said. Representatives from Beijing Ershang spent several days on-site at Bordertown supporting the team with the new China Block product development, demonstrating the collaborative approach that made this breakthrough possible.
JBS Bordertown said the inaugural chilled order program has commenced with four metric tonnes of ‘Redgum’ Lamb Racks, with the end user being Sam’s Club (Walmart China). This represents a significant opportunity as Sam’s Club will test consumer response while providing valuable feedback to facilitate additional orders and an expanded product range, reaching their impressive 50 million member base, the company said in the Facebook post.
JBS Bordertown said the achievement was a tremendous success, with the Bordertown team demonstrating exceptional ownership and engagement throughout the milestone project. This breakthrough opens new pathways for JBS Australia’s lamb exports and showcases what can be achieved through proper plant engagement and collaborative partnerships, the company said.
