THREE finalists have been selected from a strong field of entries in the National Council of Wool Brokers of Australia’s broker award.

NCWSBA executive director Paul Deane announced the three finalists as Genevieve Butler from Karee Wool, Stephanie Frost from Macdonald & Co Woolbrokers and Matt Tattersall from Elders.

Mr Deane said the NCWSBA Wool Broker Award’s independent panel had a strong field of seven applicants from which to select the three finalists.

The three finalists are competing for a fully paid trip to Japan to attend the 2023 International Wool Textile Organisation congress and visit local textile industry manufacturers and retailers. The Award has been made possible by the generous support of the Award Sponsors – AWTA Ltd and Sheep Central.

The three finalists will give a presentation in support of their application at the NCWSBA Annual General Meeting and Forum on Thursday, 25th August at the RACV Club, in Bourke St, Melbourne.

Genevieve Butler was born and raised as a fifth generation sheep and wool producer with a passion for wool. She has studied agriculture and after roles with Viterra, Landmark and AWEX has developed a large client base at KareeWool.

Macdonald and Co administration team leader Stephanie Frost

Stephanie Frost grew up on a mixed farming operation at Tottenham in central western New South Wales and previously worked for the AWTA Ltd in Dubbo. She has played a major role in the administrative incorporation of the new entity Carmichael and Co.

Elders wool technical co-ordinator Matt Tattersall

Elders wool technical co-ordinator Matt Tattersall is based in Brooklyn at the National Wool Selling Centre, and grew up in a Tasmanian farming area prominent for its fine wool Merinos. His industry involvement has included with Tasmania’s AGFEST field days as a Rural Youth Tasmania member.

The independent selection panel consisted of Steve Harrison from Woolproducers Australia, Ian Ashman from AWTA and Terry Sim from Sheep Central.

The independent selection panel will be present at the AGM and Forum and will make their decision on the winner later that day. The winner will be announced at the Wool Week dinner held at the RACV Club in Melbourne in the evening of 25th August.

The NCWSBA Wool Broker Award has been awarded since 2012 and recognises excellence in service to woolgrowers, auctioneering and/or innovation by an outstanding wool broker employee who is working for a NCWSBA member and has been in the wool broking industry for 10 years or less.
