REGIONAL Western Australian internet provider CRISP Wireless will tomorrow host a free online information night to help Western Australian sheep producers access federal live sheep transition support and grant funding.
The Export Control Amendment (Ending Live Sheep Exports by Sea) Act 2024 mandates the end of live sheep exports by sea from Australia from 1 May 2028.
The online session will provide practical guidance for people and businesses navigating the impacts of the federally mandated transition.
CRISP Wireless said it acknowledges the deep concern and frustration felt by sheep farmers affected by the live sheep export phase out and the online session is not a celebration of the policy decision. It is designed to ensure that WA farmers are not left behind and have every opportunity to secure available funding and assistance, the company said.
CRISP Wireless chief executive officer Leigh Ballard said the company’s goal is simple: to keep producers informed, connected and empowered with clear, factual information about what’s available to help them through this transition.
The event will deliver critical guidance, a panel of experts and a simplified break down of the options considering the federally legislated ban on sea based live sheep exports.
The event starts at 6.30pm WA time online via Microsoft Teams and people can register by clicking on this link.
The event will provide:
- A clear overview of the current Federal transition funding program
- An explanation in simple terms of available Federal funding and grant writing support for those impacted by the export phase out
- Insight from WA-based grant writing professionals
- Practical next steps to help producers evaluate their business options and keep their operations resilient
- Opportunities to connect with experts and peers facing similar challenges
- Access to follow up support resources and contact information
