WESTERN Australian-based livestock exporter Emanuel Exports has confirmed it is preparing its first consignment of sheep and cattle for the 2025 live export season.

The exporter said about 50,000 sheep and 200 cattle were set to board the MV Al Kuwait, departing Fremantle later this week.

The consignment is bound for key Gulf markets including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman, where Australian sheep and cattle continue to be valued for their quality, welfare standards, and the trust built over decades of trade, Emanuel said in a statement.

The exporter said this year’s season has commenced a few weeks later than in previous years, reflecting the alignment of export programs with market demand, livestock pricing and seasonal conditions.

While it is too early to predict the total number of shipments for the season, strong demand from trading partners is evident, the exporter said; however, future shipments will depend on factors including shipping schedules, sheep availability and market pricing.

Emanuel said the sheep for this first voyage have arrived in excellent condition, reflecting the benefits of a more favourable season across Western Australia. The company extended its thanks to the producers, agents, transporters, shearers and all supply chain partners who have contributed to the preparation of this consignment.

Emanuel Exports corporate governance and compliance officer Dr Holly Ludeman said the hive of activity around the shipment has been positive for everyone, “and the quality of sheep has been excellent.”

Although current high livestock prices and policy uncertainty continue to influence the market, the company said it remains optimistic and continues to see solid demand and strong relationships with trusted trading partners throughout the Gulf.  Emanuel said it is committed to maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare, compliance and supply-chain performance.
