WOOL Industries Australia has opened nominations for the 2026 Australian Wool Industry Medal.

The medal celebrates the achievements of the Australian wool industry by recognising those who have made a significant and lasting contribution to its success.

Since its inception in 2017, the Medal has recognised leaders and contributors from a range of industry sectors, including wool production; classing; wool handling and shearing; brokering;  exporting; processing; education; market reporting and analysis; administration and regulation services; science, research and testing, and; fashion and retail.

WIA today said it is seeking nominations of individuals who have demonstrated outstanding service to the wool industry, have made a significant impact within a specific sector or across the broader industry or have been recognised through media, industry awards, professional groups, or local government, including those who previously received a wool industry-related honour.

WIA represents the national industry, with members including the Australian Council of Wool Exporters and Processors, the Australian Wool Exchange, AWH Pty Ltd, Australian Wool Innovation, the Australian Wool Testing Authority, the National Council of Wool Selling Brokers of Australia, and WoolProducers Australia.

Nominations for the 2026 Australian Wool Industry Medal close at close of business on Tuesday, 30 June 2026. The 2026 medals are awarded during the annual Wool Week dinner in Melbourne in September.

All nominations must be submitted via the official nomination form and emailed to: [email protected] Further information, including the nomination form, is available at: www.woolindustries.au
