TERRAGEN Biotech chief operating officer Dr Joss West has joined the Sheep Producers Australia board after the departure of outgoing director Andrew Henderson.

SPA announced the board changes after its 2026 annual general meeting today.

Dr West is a veterinarian and experienced executive who began her career in veterinary practice.

Dr West and her family run livestock and operate a pre-export quarantine enterprise in north-east Victoria.

Mr Henderson stepped down from the Sheep Producers AustraliabBoard and his role with LambEx due to growing work commitments.

“Stepping down was not an easy decision, but with a number of significant work priorities increasingly requiring my attention, now is the right time to make way for new leadership on the Board,” he said.

“It has been a genuine pleasure to serve the Australian sheep meat industry and to work with Sheep Producers Australia.

“The organisation is in very good hands,” he said.

“The board and team are doing important work on behalf of producers, and I have every confidence that will continue.”

Sheep Producers Australia chair Bindi Murray welcomed Dr West to the board and acknowledged Mr Henderson’s contribution to the organisation and his involvement in the growth of LambEx, the world’s largest sheep industry conference.

“Andrew’s industry knowledge, sound judgement and strategic insight have been invaluable to both boards, helping guide Sheep Producers Australia through a significant period while strengthening LambEx’s reach and relevance,” she said.

“On behalf of the board, I sincerely thank Andrew for his dedicated service and wish him all the best.

“Joss joins us at an important time for the sheep meat industry,” Ms Murray said.

“Her depth of experience in animal health, livestock production and executive leadership will strengthen the Board’s work on behalf of producers.”

Paul Andrews also stood for election to the board but was unsuccessful.

Ms Murray said she wanted to thank the Sheep Producers Australia directors for their contributions and ongoing support. She also acknowledged the dedicated Sheep Producers Australia team “for their professionalism and hard work throughout the year in ensuring producers continue to have a strong national voice.”
