The Australian Wool Exchange (AWEX) said the move to hold the Sydney wool sale S40 at the show is being met with enthusiasm from woolgrowers, brokers and buyers eager to showcase how wool is sold and traded.
AWEX chief executive officer Mark Grave said passers-by will be able to see the sale in progress on purpose-built displays and screens have been developed to add more information, colour and movement around the sale.
“We’re feeling our way with this – it’s the first time it has been done.
“We want it to be a great success and at the same time showcase what the industry is about.”
Over 14,200 bales has been rostered to be offered during the two-day sale, with all buyers and brokers participating.
Aim is to educate about the wool industry
AWEX said organisers at the Sydney Royal Easter Show have pulled out all stops to construct a temporary sale room which can support the necessary infrastructure to conduct the two-day sale.
The motivation behind holding the sale at the Sydney Royal Easter Show is to educate the public about one of Australia’s most iconic agricultural industries. Wool from across New South Wales and Queensland will be offered for sale.
