FEATURE sales in Western Australia, Victoria and South Australia boosted AuctionsPlus’ online sheep and lamb offering by more than 30,000 last week.
The online sheep and lamb offering increased by 30,079 to 155,840 head.
The feature commercial sales interfaced with the online platform included the Elders WA Sheep Sale, Nhill & Kaniva District Lamb Sale, Jamestown Store Sheep Market and Nutrien‘s Katanning Sheep Sale, boosting listings by 37,000 head.
White Dorper ewes sell to $427
The highlight of the week was $427 for a line of 3-6 year-old White Dorper ewes weighing 73kgs and scanned in-lamb from the Canonbar Pastoral Company at Nyngan, New South Wales. They sold to a buyer in Willangie, Victoria. A line a 1.5 year-old ewes, also scanned in-lamb and weighing 71kgs sold for $415 to the same buyer.
Merino ewe lambs make $240
Merino ewe lambs averaged $190 and sold from $160 to $240. The top price went to P.L. & P.K. Albeck, St George, Queensland, for a line of August-September 2019 drop Bullamon Plains blood ewe lambs weighing 49kgs, with 60mm fleeces and been joined to Coolalee rams. They sold to a NSW buyer at Inverell. Another highlight includes a line of August-September 2019 drop ewe lambs weighing 48kgs and carrying 20mm of fleece at Bathurst, NSW, that sold for $230.
Merino ewe hoggets averaged $249 and sold from $143 to $316. The top price went to a line of unjoined 1.5 year-old Woodpark blood hoggets weighing 64kg and with 32mm fleeces from J.H. & L.M. Evans & Sons, Fernihurst, Victoria. They sold to a Victoria buyer at Boort. Another highlight was a line of Nyowee Poll Merino blood hoggets, weighing 63kgs with a 30mm fleeces from Halbury in South Australia that sold for $301 to a Victorian buyer at Mildura.
Young Merino ewes sell to $331
Young Merino ewes (2-4 years) averaged $252 and sold from $176 to $331. The top price went to 624 two year-old Bundilla and Poll Boonooke blood Merino ewes weighing 69kgs and with 63mm fleeces from Oxton Park, Harden, NSW. They sold to a buyer at Galong, NSW. Another highlight was the $320 paid by a Victorian buyer at Elmore for a line of 2.4-2.6 year-old Woodpark blood ewes weighing 77kgs and with 32mm fleeces from Fernihurst in Victoria.
Proven Merino breeders (4 years +) and mixed aged ewes, averaged $223 and sold from $160 to $308. The top price was paid for a line of 2-6 year-old Boxleigh Park blood ewes weighing 80kg with 55mm fleeces and scanned in-lamb to Poll Merino rams, from Twelve Mile Pastoral Company, Wellington, NSW. Another highlight was $290 for a line of 4 year-old Mumblebone blood ewes weighing 68kgs from Cudal.
Merino wether lambs peak at $165
Merino wether lambs averaged $130 and sold from $106 to $165. The top price was paid for a line of April 2020 drop wethers weighing 54kgs from Allens Warrawee Park at Keith , SA. At Burraboi, NSW, a line of unshorn May-June 2020 drop Terrick West blood wethers weighing 42kgs sold for $151 to a buyer in Cooma, NSW.
Grown Merino wethers averaged $153 and sold from $129 to $172. The top price went to a line of 3-3.5 year-old Bonooke blood wethers weighing 48kg and with 30mm fleeces from D.B. & I.M. Stewart at Ashford, NSW. They sold to Queensland buyer at Goondiwindi. Another highlight was $167 paid for a line of 13-14 month-old Hazeldean blood wethers weighing 52 kgs and with a 48mm skin at Woodside in Victoria. The sold to a buyer in Birchip, Victoria.
First cross ewes lambs in demand
First cross ewe lambs were in high demand and a 100pc clearance was achieved. Prices averaged $279 and from $227 to $368. The top price went to a line March 2020 drop ewe lambs weighing 59kgs from Avonside at Narromine, NSW. Another highlight was the $320 paid for a line of April-May 2020 drop lambs from Wellington, NSW, weighing 43kgs. They sold to a buyer at Kyneton, VIC.
First cross ewe hoggets averaged $345 and sold from $320 to $367. The top price went to a line from A/c “Max Plummer & Co” Tottenham, NSW. These ewes are 13 to 14 months, weigh 57kgs and are unjoined. From Wagga Wagga, NSW a line of 12 to 14 month first cross ewes, weighing 63kgs sold for $355 to a buyer in Goulburn, NSW.
Grown first cross ewes averaged $273 and sold from $177 to $354. The top price went to a line from A/c “WM Munro & Sons” Coolamon, NSW. These ewes are 2.5 years old, weigh 73kg and going to their new home in Goulburn, NSW.
Store lamb offering increases
Store lamb numbers for the week saw a total of 28,132 head listed, an increase of 8350 from last week with a clearance of 90%. Prices ranged between 336c and 773c to average 411c/kg, up 9 cents from last week. Some highlights include:
– Jul/Jul 20’ drop, 24kg, Merino/Border Leicester mixed sex suckers from COOTAMUNDRA, New South Wales sold for 773c or $184.
– Jun/Jul ’20 drop, 32kg, Merino/White Suffolk mixed sex suckers from BOOKHAM, New South Wales sold for 484c or $153.
– May/Jun ’20 drop, 28kg, Composite/Composite mixed sex suckers from TARRAYOUKYAN, New South Wales sold for 480c or $133.
– Jun/July ’20 drop, 29kg, Border Leicester/Merino/Primeline wether suckers from LESLIE MANOR, Victoria sold for 472c or $135.
– Jul/Aug ’20 drop, 29kg, Focus Prime mixed sex suckers from KINGSCOATE, South Australia sold for 446c or $129.
– Jun/Jul ’20 drop, 37kg, Merino/White Suffolk mixed sex suckers from BOOKHAM, New South Wales sold for 444c or $162.
