A COLD front crossed southern Australia during the week, with weekly rainfall totals of 50 to 100 mm for the far south-west of Western Australia and western Tasmania.

The cold front also brought rain late in the week to the New South Wales South Coast district, resulting in weekly totals of 50 to 100 mm.

Weekly rainfall totals of 10 to 50 mm were recorded in the Victoria Alps, northern Tasmania, and in a large area of western to central Western Australia.

Rainfall was patchy elsewhere across southern Australia, with weekly totals typically less than 10 mm.

Onshore flow brought showers, locally heavy at times, to the tropical Queensland coast, with weekly totals of 100 to 200 mm around Tully.

The highest weekly rainfall total at a Bureau of Meteorology gauge was 189.0 mm at Topaz Alert (Queensland).

The highest daily rainfall at a bureau gauge was 84.6 mm at Blackbutt (Tammar Place) (New South Wales) to 9am on 6 August.
