SEVERAL cold fronts brought showers to south-western Western Australia, south-eastern South Australia, Victoria, southern New South Wales and Tasmania during the week.

Easterly on-shore airflow and a low pressure trough close to the coast resulted in showers for parts of the New South Wales and Queensland coasts and adjacent inland areas.

Weekly totals greater than 15 mm were recorded in south-western Western Australia, coastal parts of south-eastern South Australia and western Victoria, much of Tasmania and in parts of Queensland’s Central Coast, Capricornia and Central Highlands districts.

In western Tasmania weekly rainfall totals were above 50 mm.

The highest weekly total (at a Bureau gauge) of 103.2 mm was recorded at Mount Read, Tasmania and the highest daily total (at a Bureau gauge) during the week of 50.6 mm was recorded at Bickley, Western Australia, in the 24 hours to 9am on 19 July.

Most of Australia received little to no rain during the week.
