Sheepvention rams to return to dedicated sale pavilion

Sheep Central, May 29, 2023

Merino rams at Sheepvention.

HAMILTON Sheepvention’s ram sale will return to its dedicated pavilion in the rural expo’s new 2023 two-day program.

The multi-vendor Merino, Dohne and Corriedale ram sale, will again be a highlight on the second day of the event, on Monday 7 August at 10am.

Sheepvention organiser said the sale will continue to offer its unique pen of five and pen of three format to cater for and attract a larger variety of studs, and will be interfaced with Auctions Plus.

Ram sale convenor, Will Crawford, said the sale’s committee is looking forward to building on its strong success from last year.

“We had a great sale coming out of COVID, and we hope to return to pre-pandemic levels.”

Sheepvention President David Botterill said the return of the sale to its traditional home in the ram shed has led to a lot of new and continued interested.

“We’ve got some great new technology in place, interfacing with Auctions Plus and live streaming the auction on the big screen which is something we haven’t previously offered.”

Last year, a Yarrawonga Poll ram topped the sale at $26,000 and the sale rams averaged $4372.

Mr Botterill said the success of the 2022 sale goes to show the calibre of rams sold at the sale.

Keen vendors are now encouraged to register, with applications closing on Wednesday 14 June. All registrations can be made online.

The Sheepvention Rural Expo will be held on Sunday 6 – Monday 7 August at the Hamilton Showgrounds, Hamilton Victoria. For more event information, please visit www.sheepvention.com
