Rangeland goats sell online in first AuctionsPlus offering since 2016

GOATS were offered on the the AuctionsPlus online saleyard platform for the first time since 2016 last week.

The platform achieved a 99 percent clearance of 2777 rangeland goats from Longreach, Mitchell and Dirranbandi in Queensland.

At Mitchell, B.R & V.E. Jones offered 362 Boer doe goats in three lots that made $150/head or 428c/kg live. The 2-4 year-old goats weighed 35kgs liveweight and sold to buyers in southern Queensland.

The Perrottet Pastoral Co at Dirranbandi offered 2400 rangeland goats. The 2000 1-5 year-old does with an average liveweight of 22kgs sold from $65 to $67. A line of 400 1-4 year-old rangeland buck goats sold for $68. They weighed 19kgs.

Sheep and lamb numbers dip slightly

Sheep and lamb numbers on AuctionsPlus held steady last week at 62,347 head, just 3313 fewer than the previous week. Merino ewes and wethers made up 60pc of the listings.

Merino ewe lambs sold for an average of $119 and to a top of $165. The top price went to a line of Poll Boonoke blood Merino ewe lambs at Moulamein, New South Wales. The April/May 2018 drop ewes weighed 39kgs liveweight and had a 4.5cm fleece.

Young ewes sold for an average of $151 and to a top of $200 for a line of rising two year-old, Gum Hill blood Poll Merino ewes at Lochiel, South Australia. The ewes weighed 61kgs and were in lamb to White Suffolk rams. Proven breeders averaged $139 and sold to a top of $181. The top price was paid for 1400 rising four year-old ewes from Wynarka, SA. The ewes weighed 57kgs, had 4cm fleece and were in lamb to White Suffolk and Suffolk rams.

Merino wether lambs with wool sell to $129.50

Merino wether lambs sold for an average of $107 and sold to a top of $129.50 for a line of Koonik and Nareeb Nareeb blood lambs at Elmhurst in Victoria. The 44kg wethers carried a 4cm fleece. Merino wethers averaged $101 and sold to a top of $130 for 1150 Elgelabra and Wellgully blood wethers at Longreach, Queensland. The rising two year-old wethers weighed 46kgs and had a 6.5cm fleece.

First cross ewe lambs make $203

First cross ewe lambs sold for an average of $161 and to a top of $203 last week. The top price went to a line of July/August 2018 drop, 55kg lambs at Trangie, NSW. The lambs were bred from Pooginook and Raby blood Merino ewes and Dunnield blood Border Leicester rams.

Scanned in lamb first cross ewes sold for an average of $193 and to a top of $233. The top price was paid for rising two year-old ewes at Benalla, Victoria. The ewes weighed 57kgs and were in lamb to Poll Dorset rams.

Store lambs reach 509c/kg liveweight

Store lambs overall sold from 217-509c/kg liveweight to average 364 cents on AuctionsPlus last week. The top price was paid for a line of White Suffolk/SAMM mixed sex suckers at Temora, NSW. The January 2019 drop lambs weighed 23kg.

Lambs weighing 20-25kg liveweight lambs averaged 363c/kg. The 26-32kg lambs averaged 358 cents and reached 402c/kg for a line of Poll Dorset cross lambs. The Oct/Nov 2018 drop lambs weighed 28kgs and came from Ashford, NSW.

Lambs weighing 32-37kg liveweight averaged 362c/kg and sold to a top of 394 cents for a line of White Suffolk cross lambs at Mansfield, Victoria. The July/August 2018 drop lambs weighed 35kg. Lambs weighing 38kgs+ sold for an average of 372c/kg and to a top of 421 cents. The top price was paid for a line of August/September 2018 drop Poll Dorset cross lambs at Cooma, NSW, that weighed 39kg.
