Online AuctionsPlus ewe lamb demand strong for select lines

These Australian White ewe lambs at Griffith in NSW sold for $346 on AuctionsPlus last week.

AUSTRALIAN White ewe lambs made $346, unjoined Merino ewe hoggets made to $261 and first cross ewes with lambs sold for $275 on AuctionsPlus last week.

Sheep and lamb numbers decreased slightly on the online platform; by just over 5,700 head to 94,992 head.

Store lambs made up more than half the offering this week, and 527 unique users logged into the lamb sale last Tuesday.

Unjoined Merino ewe hoggets attracted buyer interest this week, with an average price of $170 and a range of $121 to a top of $261 for 335 2-2.5 year-old Roseville Park blood ewes at Cooma, New South Wales. The 59.8kg early November shorn ewes were mostly score 2.

Various lines of 2-3 year-old unjoined Merino ewes sold from $106 up to $201 for 128 2.5 year-old mid-June shorn Centre Plus blood ewes at Bathurst, NSW. They weighed 54.4kg lwt and were mostly score 3. Other Merino highlights this week included 4-5 year-old scanned in lamb ewes at Cudal, NSW selling for $201, and 2-5 year-old unjoined ewes at Morrison, VIC selling to $178.

Producers offered 17,000 merino wethers and wether lambs online last week. The wether lambs were topped by a line of 600 43kg May-June drop Collinsville blood lambs with a 34mm fleece at Burra, South Australia, that made $124. Merino wether lambs averaged $85.

Merino wether hoggets averaged $119 and sold from $103 and up to $134 for 340 17-18 month-old mid-November shorn wethers at Shelford, Victoria. They weighed 56.8kg and were mostly score 2.

Australian White ewe lambs $346

A small line of 30 February-April drop Australian White ewe lambs at Griffith, New South Wales, sold for $346 last week.

The commercial lines of unjoined first cross ewe lambs were topped by 336 6-7 month-old future breeders at Hovells Creek, NSW, that made $230. The early-November shorn lambs weighed 49.7kg and were mostly score 3.

A line of 248 2.5-4.5 year-old mid-April shorn first cross ewes with 266 12-16 week-old second cross Poll Dorset lambs at foot at Horsham, Victoria, sold for $275.
