Livestock exporters to gather in Townsville this week

Terry Sim, October 28, 2019

‘WELFARE beyond borders’ will be the theme of Australia’s annual LIVEXchange conference for livestock exporters this week.

More than 350 delegates are expected to attend the livestock export industry annual gathering and conference LIVEXchange 2019 conference at Townsville in Queensland on 30-31 October.

The program includes multiple panel sessions with international speakers, including buyers of Australian livestock and meat products from several countries. There are also plenty of opportunities for delegates to hear first-hand from a range of exporters on topics as diverse as regulation and the social benefits provided by the industry.

Other presenters will provide updates on global food trends, the market outlook, the latest livestock vessel technology, the Livestock Global Assurance Program (LGAP), flood recovery in North Queensland, and African swine fever.

The theme of the conference is ‘Welfare beyond borders’ and organisers said while the care of livestock in the supply chain will be front of mind throughout the conference, the aim is to broaden the discussion into ways the industry contributes to other kinds of welfare – of the environment, of communities here in Australia and overseas, and of food security.

LIVEXchange 2019 is being hosted by the Queensland Livestock Exporters’ Association (QLEA) in conjunction with the Australian Livestock Exporters’ Council (ALEC) and the Australian Livestock Export Corporation (LiveCorp).
