Incoming AWEX CEO Charlie McElhone.
FORMER Dairy Australia general manager Charlie McElhone has been appointed as the next chief executive officer of the Australian Wool Exchange.
AWEX chair Andreas Clark said the board is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr McElhone.
Mr McElhone will assume the role on 30 June this, succeeding Mark Grave, who will retire after 31 years of service, including 21 years as AWEX CEO.
Mr Clark said Mr McElhone brings extensive experience to AWEX, having spent the past 13 years at Dairy Australia, where he most recently served as general manager – sustainable dairy and previously as general manager – trade and industry strategy.
Mr Clark said Mr McElhone’s leadership will be instrumental in advancing AWEX’s mission, supporting members and industry stakeholders, and strengthening key programs.
These will include the Australian Wool Sustainability Scheme, industry traceability initiatives through WoolClip and eBale, and the quality and integrity programs such as wool classing and the National Wool Declaration Integrity Program.
“The board extends its deepest gratitude to Mark Grave for his outstanding leadership and contributions, which have significantly shaped AWEX and the broader Australian wool industry.
“We look forward to working closely with Mark and Charlie to ensure a smooth transition in the months ahead,” Mr Clark said in a statement.
