Professor Richard Eckard.

CARBON farming expert Professor Richard Eckard will present the second Peter Schroder Lecture at the Hamilton Pastoral and Agricultural Society’s Sheepvention Rural Expo this year.

Professor Eckard is the director of the Primary Industries Climate Challenges Centre at the University of Melbourne.

The professor is known for his ground-breaking research on carbon farming and accounting for carbon-neutral agriculture, managing extreme climate events, and exploring options for agriculture to adapt to a changing climate.

He developed the first greenhouse gas accounting tools for agriculture, that have become a nationally recognized framework.

Sheepvention president David Botterill said the Sheepvention committee is very excited and honoured to have Professor Eckard present the lecture.

“He will undoubtedly provide a great insight into his topics of specialty.” The lecture will take place at Sheepvention Rural Expo on Monday 5 August from 8.30-9.30am in the Red Shield Hut.
