WOOL growers will have an opportunity to get an update on Australian Wool Innovation’s WoolQ platform in a webinar tomorrow evening.
AWI’s program manager, Woolmark certification and traceability, Mark Scott, will discussion WoolQ and traceability in the half hour webinar starting at 6pm AEST Tuesday.
The webinar was requested by AWI’s Woolgrower Industry Consultation Panel and follows the recent announcement of greater collaboration between AWI and the Australian Wool Exchange on melding both body’s electronic classer specis into one eSpeci by the end of the year.
Mr Scott will be giving an overview and will answer any questions growers might have. In the webinar, he will cover the WoolQ grower tools and the data journey from the shed to the auction. He will also discuss how the industry network works to connect growers to peers.
Up to last year, AWI admitted to spending $6.4 million on WoolQ, including a taxpayer contribution of about $1.2 million, with negligible returns to growers while failing to reach its own online wool trading turnover target.

AWI never gives up does it? “If only AWI controlled the wool from start to finish all would be well”. One day wool growers will forget their history and acquisition will be back on the agenda and look – WoolQ, up and running ready to go!
Well done AWI, that’s what you call good forward thinking. AWI has a great corporate culture. Bill Gunn and Bill Vine’s dreamland still in place after 60 years.
