AWI launches The Yarn podcast for levy-paying wool growers

Sheep Central, October 31, 2016

the-yarn-awi-oct-31-16AUSTRALIAN Wool Innovation has launched a new free podcast called The Yarn to inform the nation’s levy-paying wool growers.

In addition to regular communications such as the quarterly Beyond the Bale magazine, monthly e-newsletter, regular social media and media releases, The Yarn is a fortnightly audio report from across the wool research, development and marketing body.

The podcast is designed to be listened to on a smartphone for ‘people on the go’ and has been created as a regular report for those who AWI principally works for: Australian wool growers.

The development of The Yarn is in line with AWI’s new digital communication strategy that uses new low cost in-house ways to report directly to those AWI works for, AWI said.

The first two episodes of The Yarn are now available to download or subscribe to at the iTunes Store or at www.wool.com/podcast

In the first episode AWI chief executive officer Stuart McCullough discusses the current international demand for wool, woolgrowers in Milan are interviewed and a novel way to attract shearers to woolsheds is outlined. The second episode involves an on farm visit by International Woolmark Prize winners, genomic work to battle the blowfly and superfine wool treating dermatitis.
